Encourage them to Connect
When kids talk on a landline, they engage in authentic, uninterrupted conversations that foster genuine connections with their friends. Free from the distractions of apps and notifications, they can focus solely on the person on the other end of the line.
Talking on a landline helps children develop essential communication skills, such as active listening and verbal expression. They learn to pay attention to their friend's words, respond thoughtfully, and share their own stories and laughter in real-time.
By encouraging kids to use a landline to stay in touch, we're helping them build strong, lasting friendships based on genuine communication and shared experiences. These friendships can provide a solid foundation of support and camaraderie that will serve them well throughout their lives.

Phone Number Services
Porting Your Existing Number to Family Phone
Want to keep your current phone number when switching to Family Phone? No problem! We support number porting, which means you can transfer your existing landline or mobile number to our service seamlessly.
How to Port Your Number:
Keep your current phone service active while the porting process is underway—do not cancel it beforehand.
Contact Family Phone to start the porting request. You’ll need to provide your 10-digit phone number, account number, billing address, and any port-out PIN or authorization your current provider requires.
Family Phone will handle the transfer with your current provider.
The porting process typically takes between 1 to 10 business days depending on your current provider and number type. Once complete, you’ll receive confirmation, and your number will be active on Family Phone without interruption.
Important Tips:
Review your current contract for any early termination fees or outstanding balances.
Your old provider cannot refuse to port your number even if you owe money.
Keep your account information accurate to avoid delays.
You can continue using your phone number with your old provider until the port is finalized.

Most Popular Questions
Sometimes telecommunications can be confusing. If these answers don’t address your questions, give us a call. 703 752-1999
Can I use my old analog phone?
Yes, if you have an analog phone we can provide what’s called an analog terminal adapter (ATA). Just plug the ATA into your home network jack or router and your analog phone into the phone port.
Can I keep my number?
Yes! The process is called ‘porting’ where your number is transferred from your current carrier to us. There are forms to fill out, but we’ll help you every step of the way.
Aren’t there a bunch of fees that increase the price of residential phone service?
Oh my, you bet there are, and unfortunately, we have to pass them on to you. Depending on where you live, these fees will probably raise your monthly bill by a few dollars.
Will you send me a phone?
Yes, for a limited time we will be sending either an ATA (see question above) or an actual digital phone that connects directly to your computer network. Contact us if you’d like a WiFi enabled phone or an ATA.
Can I get out of the contract if I don’t like the service?
Yes. If you find that the service doesn’t meet your needs, just return the phone device within 45 days and you will not be billed for the remaining term.
When you give your child a smartphone, you’re not just giving them access to the internet and the whole world — you’re giving the internet and the whole world access to your child.
Research shows that early smartphone exposure can have negative consequences for children’s mental health and development1.
